Cloud Data Architect, PT

General Description:

Principle Power is looking to fill a full-time position for a Cloud Data Architect in one of our European office locations. The open position is set to be in the Technology Group of the company; a small, dynamic and diverse environment. The work will be centered around floating wind projects and the role will be focused on the development and implementation of cloud-based data ingestion, storage, analysis, and visualization architecture for the WindFarm assets. Additionally, the candidate will work with MS Access and other relational database tools to develop engineering data storage and analytics platforms.


Main Accountabilities:

Design and implement scalable cloud-architecture-based data storage solutions for WindFarm asset datasets

Roadmap digital solutions across a range of commercial and engineering priority areas

Develop software solutions for insights, and analytics modules according to best practices

Interface with cloud solution providers and manage technical contracts to link into our current IT systems

Source code management and version control for all systems developed

Algorithm development and implementation for data and engineering solutions

Relational and non-relational database architecture design and query optimization (SQL)

Timeseries data analysis

Interactive data visualization – dashboards utilizing commercial or open-source systems (Power-BI, Grafana, etc)

Owning company database development documentation and best practices

Developing database solutions for engineering and commercial teams utilizing MS products (Access, Excel, Sharepoint, Power BI, etc)

Interface with Engineering teams working on Digital Twin Solutions for Assets (Condition Monitoring, Structural Health Monitoring, Preventative maintenance)


Education Required:

Bachelor of Science, or equivalent degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field. Master of Science would be preferred.


Required Professional Experience:

7+ years’ experience working in an Agile software development environment, cloud architecture, or database solutions roles

Expert knowledge of at least one high-level software language such as Python, R, SQL, and JavaScript

Familiarity with scalable cloud architecture services (AWS, Google, Microsoft, etc). Microsoft Azure experience strongly preferred

Adept at software version control using Git

Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Access, and Sharepoint (meta data)

Ability to produce clear and well written Engineering Reports and User Manuals in English

Ability to work efficiently in a team environment with other staff members and the discipline lead

Ability to learn in fast-paced environment and deliver high-quality results to co-workers and internal partners, and

Prior experience with cloud computing, machine learning, performance engineering (e.g. leveraging SCADA systems to quantify and optimize power generation), wind energy, offshore oil & gas, or maritime industry is considered as an advantage.
