General Description

To work on an ongoing offshore floating wind project, we are looking for an experienced engineer capable of leading integrated design tasks across several disciplines with a focus on secondary structures.

This position’s main responsibilities consist of designing integrated and complete designs for WindFloat systems. The candidate shall use their significant experience to develop practical, safe and effective designs. The candidate shall then develop full documentation packages for their designs. The chosen candidate will work alongside a team of inter- disciplinary engineers and drafters.

This contract position will be remote during the Covid-19 emergency. Thereafter, local candidates may be asked to work from our office (Emeryville, California; Houston, Texas; Lisbon, Portugal; Aix-en-Provence, France).


Main Accountabilities

  • Developing and reviewing integrated designs for equipment support, material handling and personnel access.
  • Gathering, interpreting and managing technical requirements.
  • Interfacing with engineers from other company disciplines (Structural, Hydrodynamic , Mooring, Fabrication and Installation) to ensure all requirements are met.
  • Writing, updating and reviewing technical documents.
  • Directing the development of 3D models and drawings.
  • Leading equipment selection for assigned items, including the writing of Equipment Specifications, Datasheets, and Technical Bid Evaluations.
  • Preparing various fabrication deliverables such as MTO’s, Technical Queries, etc


Required Experience

  • Experience working in a project environment and managing requirements. Additional preferred experience
  • An understanding of corrosion management in an offshore environment.
  • Proficiency in Solidworks®.
  • Understanding of strength analysis.

  • Familiarity with electrical and control systems.

  • Knowledge of the offshore wind, offshore oil & gas, or maritime industry preferred.

  • Proficient with Microsoft tools, namely Word and Excel.


Other Requirements

English proficiency is mandatory both written and spoken. Additional language skills will be considered an advantage, particularly French, Portuguese, and Japanese.

Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

Autonomous, systematic, and detail oriented.

Authorization to work in the location of hire.
