Senior Industrialization Engineer, PT

Position Type: Senior Industrialization Engineer
Location: Lisbon, Portugal
Education Required: Master’s Degree preferred – Bachelor’s in Engineering, Naval Architecture, or related field. Prefer candidates who possess an academic profile with coursework focused on offshore structures, construction, and wind energy.

General Description:

As a leader in floating, offshore wind energy, Principle Power is focused on the commercial-scale deployment of floating wind farms. The successful candidate will be pivotal in our commitment to deliver industrialized solutions for commercial scale deployments.

The successful candidate should be a systems level thinker who will own technical roadmaps, engage with the product supply chain, manage internal engineering product development activities, and interface across company business units for commercialization based workstreams. The successful candidate will work with the engineering, installation, and fabrication teams on the next generation of offshore floating wind turbine foundation solutions by managing studies and product development activities in line with the company technology roadmap. Interface will be key for this role as the individual must manage the product needs stemming from engineering, installation, strategy/commercial, and external drivers, as well as define cross-disciplinary processes.

The individual will need to be a self-motivated individual who is able to work independently and take ownership of the multiple industrialization workstreams. This role will be highly visible and the ability to influence key stakeholders without direct authority is paramount. This person will report directly to the Vice President of Technology.

 

Main Accountabilities:

Own and deliver on technical roadmaps utilizing first principle- and systems-level thinking philosophies.

Manage engineering sensitivity studies linked to industrialization program.

Coordinate between internal teams to produce schedule and cost-informed execution plans for projects in a multitude of geographies.

Organize programs to engage with floating wind supply chains to acquire, ingest, and visualize data from suppliers, fabricators, vendors, etc.

Interface with project fabrication teams to develop innovative fabrication, assembly, and installation solutions to meet unique execution plan challenges.

Coordinate internally with strategy and costing teams to deliver accurate cost models inclusive of engineering, fabrication, and installation variables.

Harvest data from existing projects and work with Technology teams to develop tools to store/query/visualize data trends utilizing linear regression and machine learning techniques.

Actively participate in project design reviews ensuring systems level thinking is utilized across commercial project execution plans. Challenge design decisions with goal of decreasing project schedule and levelized cost of energy.

Summarize findings in reports for internal and external digestion and develop multi-disciplinary processes.

Represent Principle Power technical program progress internally and externally by creating and delivering informative presentation content.

 

Required Education: 

Bachelor’s degree: Master’s preferred in Engineering, Naval Architecture, or related field. Prefer candidates who possess an academic profile with coursework focused on offshore structures, construction, and wind energy. Equivalent work experience acceptable.

 

Required Professional Experience:

5+ years preferred prior work experience in fields relating to Offshore Wind, Offshore Oil & Gas, or Maritime industry. Other industry experience to be considered includes aerospace, automotive, etc.

Working knowledge of offshore structures and mooring systems preferred. Knowledge of lean manufacturing and assembly practices a plus.

Working knowledge of offshore structure fabrication, construction, and installation philosophies preferred. Time spent in fabrication and manufacturing facilities highly valued.

Product development and project management experience preferred.

Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Microsoft project experience a plus.

Ability to produce clear and well written engineering reports and technical documents in English. Grant writing experience a plus.

Working knowledge of 2-D Drafting and 3-D modeling programs such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Rhino a plus.

 

Required Knowledge:

7 -10 years of experience in relevant industry.

Functions: Roadmap Development, Engineering Management, Interface Management, Supply Chain Engagement.

Industry: Renewables & Environment.

Travel: Minimal travel, which may include visits to Principle Power office locations in the US, Portugal, and France. Travel may also include limited travel to fabrication facilities and suppliers.

Work Status: The candidate should have or be eligible to obtain the ability to work in the locations listed.

Ability to learn in fast-paced environment and deliver high-quality results to co-workers and external partners.

Ability to interface with multiple business units including engineering, strategy, business, and project development.

The individual will have a technical curiosity and love of learning which can translate into actionable items. A “get it done” attitude is a must for this role.
