General Description

We are looking for a Vice President, Project Management who is passionate about offshore wind technologies and enjoys the unique challenges of growing business in an emerging industry. You will join Principle Power’s Operations organization, a high-performing and dynamic team that is focused on positioning Principle Power as the global leader in the emerging floating wind sector.


Vice President, Project Management leads a group of Project Managers and support functions, who deliver studies, design and execution projects, as wells as grant projects around the globe.
These types of contracts require engineering knowledge in the field of offshore energy projects. The Vice President Project Management, being responsible for the Project portfolio, will lead and support his team to deliver projects safe, on time, in quality and in budget to the customer.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Principle Power’s Project Management group.
  • Responsible to manage project portfolio to deliver the individual contracts safely in time, on budget and to the satisfaction of the Customer.
  • Develop, monitor and support execution strategies with the Project Managers including making or preparing key decisions.
  • Support new business by contributing to, review and approve offers. Provide experience to the Business Development team
  • Plan, allocate and develop the team and the methods to constantly improve Principle Power’s execution performance.
  • Drive the open exchange between sales and projects under execution to improve product and service of Principle Power.

 

Interfaces

The VP Project Management will have multiple external and internal interfaces:

  • The VP Project Management will report to the COO.
  • The VP Project Management will be working closely with the VP Business development and the Project Manager to develop a sustainable relationship with the Customers, based on the Customer’s specific needs and priorities.
  • The VP Project Management will work closely with the VP Engineering and VP Technology to define strategies, allocate teams and review and improve performance to deliver the projects or grants.
  • The Project Managers and support functions will report to the VP Project Management

 

Group leadership

  • Grow and manage the Project Management Group to the business requirements by hiring, allocating, coaching and training the group members
  • Responsible for annual budgeting process for the Group’s cost center. Managing this budget.
  • Develop and execute a strategy to balance demands and resources on a global scale

 

Execution Phase

  • Manage the portfolio of projects by strategic planning as well as specific support
  • Proactively identify issues, propose and execute solutions
  • Ensure that the projects are executed safely, in quality, on time and on budget
  • Responsibility for the project’s profit and loss
  • Plan, schedule, organize resources
  • Interface with customers (developers, utilities, oil and gas majors, ...) in cooperation with Project Manager and Business Development to manage expectations in order to foster a sustainable relationship;
  • Review and approve Variations to Project prepared by the Project Managers
  • Interface internally with HSE, engineering, finance and business development teams
  • Interface with external contractor
  • Interact with legal teams to support execution strategy and negotiations
  • Lead and review the regular internal and external project reporting cycle

 

Business Development Support

  • Understanding of customer needs
  • Review, develop and approve new projects offers together with engineering and Business Development
  • Cycle back experience from execution into Business Development

 

Continuous improvement processes

  • Create and review processes to improve project execution and cross functional cooperation
  • Build internal quality interfaces with all Areas of Principle Power
  • Drive the project management and execution to meet the industrialization challenges

 

Required Professional experience

15+ years of professional experience as Project Manager

 

Required Education

Master’s degree in Construction, Offshore or Marine Engineering or related field

 

Required Knowledge

  • In depth knowledge of renewable energy/power, technology and offshore renewables Industry.
  • Multiple years of Project and/or Engineering Management experience, preferred certified Project Manager
  • Ability to manage a project commercially and contractually
  • Understanding of the technical and commercial drivers of an offshore wind farm project
  • Ability to work efficiently in a team environment split in various geographical locations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, Project Management software tools as MS Project, Primavera or others.
  • Ability to produce clear and well written documentation in English.
  • Ability to interface with other business units and upper management.
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in French, and Portuguese would be an advantage

 

Other requirements

  • Willingness to travel to international office locations and customers on a regular basis
  • Willingness to adjust to the requirements and opportunities of global work groups
  • Experience in offshore wind energy or floating system engineering
  • Customer-minded and collaborative approach with strong interpersonal, negotiation and leadership skills;
  • Strategic thinking
  • Experience of leading distributed teams and leading Project Managers
  • Expertise with common project management, schedule and budgeting tools
  • Contract and Change management, as well as negotiation skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, team worker
  • Ability to cover details as well as the overall commercial picture
  • Multiple language skills is a plus as project locations will be global
  • Ability to learn in fast-paced environment and deliver high-quality results to team, co-workers and external partners
  • Willingness to bridge the time gap between US and Europe
  • Sense of humor
  • Authorization to work in France
