WindFloat Atlantic Operation and Maintenance Site Manager

Position Type: Full-time regular employee

General Description

Principle Power Operation and Maintenance Team provides operations, maintenance, inspection and repair services for floating wind projects that using the WindFloat technology. It also supports the installation and commissioning of new-built wind farms. We are expanding the team to support multiple contracted offshore wind projects in several geographies that will be installed over the coming years.

We are currently seeking an Offshore Operations and Maintenance Site Manager for a unique and innovative offshore wind project WindFloat Atlantic installed and commissioned offshore Viana do Castelo, Portugal. This position has full responsibility for the operations and maintenance contract being the representative of Principle Power towards the Customer. This position will report to the Operations and Maintenance Manager.


Main Accountabilities

  • Representing Principle Power daily towards the Operations manager of the customer

  • Promote good HSE practices and comply to company, industry, and legal standards

  • Plan, prepare and execute operation, maintenance, inspection, and repair activities:

    • Manage and coordinate WindFloat service operations on site

    • Plan annual service and maintenance calendar to minimize WindFloat downtime

    • Plan all corrective maintenance to minimize cost, risk, and downtime from issue identification, to diagnosis, intervention, repair, and confirmation. This includes the preparation of Risk Assessment and Method statements for the activities to be performed

    • Manage Spare Parts procurement process, logistics, storage, and dispatch

    • Reporting of the activities to the customer and to the Operations and Maintenance Manager

  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve procedures for routine and corrective operations

  • Lead the local operations team and contribute to the broader organizational development of the Operations and Maintenance group at Principle Power

  • Develop and refine training procedures; train staff, client, and contractor personnel, as required

  • Perform a leading role in the 24/7 monitoring team for the Windfloat fleet, which is responding to the automatic systems signals

  • Support other wind farm projects under construction


Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field; Master’s degree


Required Professional Experience:

  • 5-10+ years of professional experience in the offshore Operation &Maintenance /Installation field for either wind energy or oil and gas projects, alternative experience in Industrial Services or Shipping.


Required Knowledge:

  • Experience with offshore operations planning and execution

  • Strong hands-on knowledge of electrical and/or mechanical systems

  • Comfortable working offshore, in confined spaces and at heights, coping with the respective challenges of these environments

  • Leadership qualities and ability to lead and manage teams of internal and contracted technicians

  • Commitment to safety and risk management, including planning, safety awareness, tracking, and continuous improvement

  • Experience with client management, including implementation of reporting systems for both normal and unexpected events

  • Experience with procurement and logistics management to ensure effective management of spare parts

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

  • Certification for offshore works in accordance to GWO BST


Other requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) in English

  • Creative approach to problem solving and enjoy troubleshooting technical problems

  • Availability for mobilization (in person or in calls) outside of normal business hours, if required

  • An ability to take initiatives and responsibility for projects

  • Customer-minded and collaborative, with strong interpersonal and leadership skills

  • Willingness to travel abroad to support responsibilities

  • Commitment to organizational development, coordinating with operational staff at other Wind Farms

  • Commitment to work with Engineering Teams to refine and optimize the WindFloat technology

  • Comfort working in a highly international environment and willingness to travel abroad to support responsibilities

  • Driving License valid in the PT and UK
